2014 | Realised print publication | 80 pages | 12x18cm
Printed lithographically | 400 copies
Amiens Zoo commissioned my class
to make a commercial lithographically
printed book which would be sold at
the zoo. The book was to consist of
animal drawings my classmates made
during four weeks, and our suggested
layout. 20 different designs were
submitted. Finally the book they chose
is the one I co-designed with
Thomas Voindrot .
Where the zoo administration saw an
innocent child-like book, our attempt
was more critical; to manifest our own
feelings about the zoo within the design
choices. By printing with fluorescent
green we wanted to represent the fake
nature. The sharp borders around the
pages express an oppressive enclosed
space in which the animals reside.
Our manifestation went unnoticed in
the shop for only 5€.
